Domestic hot water is something strictly necessary for the “Republican Experimental Centre of Prosthetics, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation” in the capital. The spa sanatorium institution uses a large amount of warm water for performing hydrotherapy procedures. Until recently, the institution was supplied from a thermal plant based on natural gas, which involves high costs for heating the required amount of water. The situation changed, however, after the administration of the institution implemented a pilot project on the use of solar collectors to produce hot water. With the technical and financial assistance of the Energy Efficiency Fund, 48 solar tube collectors were built on the building of the institution. Using them brings the budget annual savings of about 200,000 lei.
